Visiting my local Sainsbury's yesterday I parked my car as I normally do in the quietest part of the car park, normally furthest away from the door as people tend not to want to park where they have to walk more than 10 steps these days. Upon returning to my car I found that some oik had bashed into the rear bumper corner scraping the paint off. They had obviously realised what they had done as they had also rubbed all the dirt off by hand to inspect the damage. I have to assume that they have issues writing as they also failed to leave a note with details and an apology.

The two options to rectify this are either go to the body shop and pay for a full bumper respray or use one of the mobile repair services such as Chips Away. Has anyone used any of these mobile services and if so, what is the quality of work like?

Can't help you with that as I've phoned chips away twice in the past for it to go to answer phone and I never got a call back.

Similar to the comment above when my wifes Tigra got the door dented in a supermarket carpark I tried a few different smart repair services including chipsaway and out of the 4 or 5 I tried only 1 ever got back to me. I think that the quality of the work will only be as good as the technician doing the job and so will vary from place to place. Might be worth going on-line and seeing if any local companies have any reviews or recommendations on their facebook pages, Reevoo, Trust Pilot,etc or ask on here which company you are thinking of using and see if anyone has first hand experience of them.

I used Chips away once for my Tucson bumper in Yorkshire. The job was OK, but they used to use water based paints. It started bubbling and peeling about 2 years later and they give me a refund since they didn't want to do it again and told me of a guy who has his own small spraying business. I used him and he did a really good job - from the normal solvent based paints in a workshop
