England 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue
Bonnet Sensor

Just driven my Metropolis for the first time in two weeks due to a really bad case of man-flu and after five minutes, the 'bonnet open' warning came up on the dash.

I stopped and checked but the bonnet was closed ok, however, after opening and closing it again, the warning vanished.
All was ok for a forty minute drive through towns, including a couple of stops with locking the car, then I stopped again and locked the car and less than 30 seconds later the alarm is going off. (never had it go off in 30 months of ownership!) Got back in the car for a twenty minute drive home and twice the 'bonnet open' warning flashed up, albeit only for a couple of seconds each time.

So.............I guess that I have a faulty sensor, could someone please tell me where it is, and if possible post a couple of pics. I've checked a couple of posts on the forum but the photos are no longer there and there seems to be confusion as to which side the sensor is on - mine is a RHD car.

Any other info would be welcome, like is it difficult to change, how much they are and where to buy from.

Thanks

Thanks for that, Largered, I only searched the forums for "bonnet sensor".

So I guess mine will be the later type that is integrated with the bonnet lock as it's a newer model (as mentioned by spnracing in that post ) so I'll probably have to buy a complete lock assembly.

Also, as the post concerned features a US LHD car I see that the unit is on the right hand side of the car, is this the same for a UK car or will it be on the left hand side?
