I’ve run 4x4s for 37 years now . I’ve never put winter tyres on them , but have always had a good ATR as I’ve found them good enough in the snow , and capable off road . The tyre I like the best is the Pirelli Scorpion ATR , they are on our Freelander now . They are extremely quiet on road and steer and brake well with decent wet weather performance . The tread is effective on tracks and fields and they have a nice pronounced edge protection bead . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Had CrossClimates for a year on my Subaru Forester - found they were a very good 'all season' tyre, although never took them off road on a regular basis - couple of very muddy tracks on Scotland holidays was about the only true off-roading they were subjected to. |

A couple of questions for you please Sid do you rotate the tyres on your Forester ? I do on the Outback and I've still got a fair old bit to go on the original Bridgestone Duellers after 22000 miles . The car is very easy on tyres . So the second question is how many miles do you think you will get on the "cross climates" ? 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Our CC have done 13,000 miles since fitting, previous wranglers went to about 24,000 before being changed so I consider mine will be fine as long as they reach or pass that. Much better than the original Wranglers but more expensive of course and not a lot of off road work. Quiet and good braking in the wet. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I run the Nokians as winter tyres, with the little ice and snow that I have had to deal with they have done well, if you are going laneing and off roading I would not think that they will do well as they are more suited to roads. |
