That's too much work. Bushes have to be thinly trimmed! 20/25mm is the maximum, too thicker bushes & the bodywork is damaged!

19's aren't the best on sand, not enough sidewall rubber. If it's a hot fluffy sand day you might get stuck at the usual places, near the barge at Inskip, Indian Head or Ngkala Rocks bypass. If the sand is soft you need to go down to 15psi or lower to stay afloat and 19's don't like it down that low. Clearance has never been an issue for me at Fraser. Do some training for it at Bribie Island, look for some of the fluffy stuff there, (inland tracks), to get used to how much momentum you need to keep yourself out of trouble. Get yourself a snatch strap and some rated shackles in case the tracks don't cut it and someone has to pull you out. If you are new to it, the probability you will get stuck is very high because it can happen to everyone sooner or later |

Chain on the mud flap is a good idea! Some 4WD put 4 mud flaps across the back as one of the defenses to help reduce caravan stone damage. 4 rear mud flaps, screens & aluminium tread plate. Stone damage down under will eat your trailer! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Interesting! I’ve had too many LR mud-flaps ripped out by reversing out of muddy holes where going forward was no longer an option, the chain would help stop the flap getting under the wheel. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Not only your trailer, the stones and rocks hit the trailer or van and ricochet back to the car and smash your rear window. A very common occurrence and why most off road trailers have a deflector screen pointing back down to the road. |
