Also I had a similar problem. I solved it by locking the vehicle and manually closing the mirror. Then unlock the vehicle and the power fold mirror found its own position.

Thanks largered - I treid the manually fold then unlock trick & it works to a degree as the mirror opens out when I unlock the car. However, it won't fold on lock so going to have to do some explorations & potentially find & fit a replacement mirror if I can't fix the current one. Will look at the threads you have identified. Cheers. |

OK, apologies, it's Sunday morning & I am in bed nursing the flu... didn't realise that I have already read those threads. Good advice re removing the outer cover but I need to get at the motor & folding mechanism - it must be possible to disassemble it as it was assembled in the first place. Link to ebay is for a later model mirror, I need the pre 2010 version - unless anyone can confirm the mechanism is the same & can be swapped over? Or better still that they are the same & that there is no difference between nearside & offside as there are a few of the latter around, probably because most people damage the nearside mirror because we drive on the left! |

I understand what you are saying about it having been assembled, so must therefore come apart but as with most disposable things nowadays, that doesn't mean it will (not without doing more damage).

Will update on progress although it may be slow due to a combination of the flu & an apparent lack of second hand nearside mirrors at the moment... |

Had to replace my offside mirror b4 Christmas due to a scroat in a white van whacking it and virtually destroying it.i ended up getting one from fleabay for about £110,which i thought reasonable, only prob is that it won't dip when going into reverse, but I can get by with that.

Don't need one that dips, just one that has power fold & puddle light if anyone knows where there is one going spare

the mirror I got is actually for the facelift model,it has a half colour coded cap(fortunately it was black)so matched, they did say it was for an hse but not sure ref the dipping, but not a problem.the fitting is the same, the difference is the top plastic moulding on the mirror is straighter(slightly)but when fitted you have to look hard to notice, just check out the 2 electric connections to be sure,i did consider looking for a facelift n/s one but could not justify the cost.

Not too sure whether they are "sided".when you think about which way the offside mirror moves then the n/side,I would think they move in opposite directions.

I am sure I have read that the angle of the units themselves differ between lhd and rhd vehicles. |
