I have a 2014 Freelander 2
There is no provision ( i.e cubby hole) to fit a sat nav into.
I would like a TomTom or similar but do not want to mount on the windscreen or stick something to the dash. What mods have you come up with?
Ideally I would like to mount it centrally. Tried vent and c.d slot mounts.

I use one of these by Garmin - very stable and flexible - sits on dash next to large grill
(Ignore the stickers about best etc I pinched a stock photo off the web)

I have kept my Garmin Sat Nav in my FL2 as it provides Live Traffic, Speed Cameras, Speed Limits, and On Line Searching, from my phone.

I have it mounted in @Portrait' mode on the end of my top dashboard (just to the right of the steering wheel assembly)
I have shaped a piece of aluminium so that a right angled edge goes between the dash and the door/windscreen pillar and the rest lies flat on the dashboard. On to this surface I have mounted a sticky dashboard round Sat Nav mount, and my sat nav sits on this. Power comes from centre consul.

It is easy to operate and see from that position. As the FL2 standard Sat Nav is very good I tend to use it to navigate and just leave my Garmin to do its own thing displaying map, cameras and limits. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

I drilled two holes earthier side of the speaker cover. One for TomTom satnav mount the other for 'custom' dashcam (housed in a TomTom housing). If you are concerned about drilling holes in finished plastic, you can buy these quite cheap on eBay. as a replacement for the future.

I 3D printed a bracket that utilises a GoPro stick on base, being a fairly adaptable point of contact for many things.
