No, old low mileage cars have their own problems when you start using them and your depreciation is higher as with the higher mileage when you sell there is no marketing hype to justify a higher selling price. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

nice car but even at 32k its still due its 10 yr service and will need all transmission fluids changed so youd have to budget or negotiate £1k at least.

If it was around 8k mark its an excellent option, but not at that screen price. And I would be surprised if you were buying it on finance from them if a lender would allow that much.

If you were looking at buying this to be part of a collection then it may be an option but as an everyday driver there is no point. As the FL2 ages and more are scrapped and fewer remain on the roads this will go the way of many other Land Rover models, up in value. You would need to wait a while though, it's shocking to see what prices some older vehicles command these days.

I purchased my 09 FL2 two years ago at £7500, I expect its only worth £5000 now.

This vehicle in question, in my mind, is only worth £5k/6K

As for the 10yr service, that should have been conducted last year, if not the £4500/5000 .......... HALF that of what is being asked. As for the tyres ..... they will be 10yrs old (if original) .... and illegal, not due to tread, but age.

no, FOR SALE price is not always the same as SOLD price, but I bet you the dealer wont want to shift much from that screen price. Its clearly what HE thinks he can get for it but its only worth what someone is willing to pay. Although you may get some sucker who hasn't done his research falling for it.

As for the 10 year service, I would still like to see hard evidence that all the work has been done and done properly.

Eighteen months ago, I found a 2007 Jaguar XK for sale - it was then 9 years old. It had done a genuine 15,600 miles from new. It was priced about 10% above the 'going-rate' for average mileage XKs of its age, so I took a chance, and bought it. A trusted Jaguar independent gave the car a thorough check-over and changed all the fluids, and, yes - it WAS on its original tyres, so these were changed too. The car really did look like it had just come out of the showroom for the first time. I have now added a further 12,000 miles (I didn't buy it to store it), and the car has been 100% faultless.

So, my opinion - don't necessarily disregard low-mileage older cars, providing a sensible purchase price can be negotiated, and be prepared for some steep 'servicing-catch-up' bills in the first few months of ownership. Currently enjoying:

We buy any car value at £9,750 so add in dealer margin and it doesn't seem that bad - amazing. Notwithstanding, there is no way I would spend that sort of money on a 10yo car. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Remember too that things like rubber seals and plastics deteriorate with age not mileage. Calipers, brake cylinders, handbrake cables often seize on low usage cars. (my wife's 10 year old low mileage Peugeot failed it's MOT for seized rear brake cylinders, she only does about 3k miles/year and the car lives in a garage) . You might find that the edges of the discs are rusty too if they haven't been used much. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

When I bought my 9-year-old low-mileage Jaguar (see my post above) I was concerned about age-deterioration of the water hoses, drive belts, brake seals, and the like. They were all carefully checked, and declared to be in good order. However, I plan to have the water hoses replaced when my Jag has its 10-year service in April.

How many 10-year old (plus) Freelanders still have all their original water hoses? Nearly all, I would expect.

Certainly, if a car is stored anywhere slightly damp, brake discs will attract surface rust very quickly, but surface rust cleans off pretty well as soon as the car is driven. Deep scores on discs always happen over time, and rust on the rim of as disc isn't an issue. In the great scheme of things - new discs aren't all that expensive anyway. Currently enjoying:

Just bought 2 rear discs £53.79 delivered. Everyday stuff is not an issue and a few percentage points more for a low mileage car is not also but if the car is heading above 15% to 20% more than book value I would walk. A FL2 is still just a FL2 not an exotic (yet). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I would as its a hse,check sun roof works with one touch as the alloy runners coated in a plastic expand and the roof wont work one touch because of the resistance,but I don't like autos,so I would and did buy a 09(no dpf)registerd November 2009 low milage but a manual in my wifes favourite colour.low mileage cars are rare,but if they wont budge on price get a long warranty.

I like it - no dpf, proper hand brake, nice spec, nice colour/trim. Manual will save you a small fortune on fuel cost - perhaps 5 mpg better than the auto which I personally do not like in the Freely2. The model year cars after that have not all fared well regarding reliability. The quality of the components generally should wear their age well - just judging by own 07 which is in great shape after 85,000 reliable miles on all original main components after towing, off roading, heavy hauling. I think it would be a great buy at about £9k.
