Thats me just over a week in with he car and have to say I'm really enjoying it. Loads of snow this week so getting to know it better. I really need better tyres than whats on it though. Silly question perhaps, however reversing into my drive last night, slight slope and the entrance covered in ice, the front wheels were spinning and the rears didn't seem to help. Perhaps my driving but is that expected?

Anyway obligatory snow photo...

You need to be sure the front transfer box is working correctly then. Sometimes known to strip ashaft leaving only the front wheels working so not working in full 4WD when needed.

Austen at Bell engineering has given advice on here how to check the system out for that fault I think. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks for the reply. The car drove fine in the snow and going through the service history the transfer box was replaced in 2014. So I’m hoping it’s not that.

Welcome. I also have a high mileage 2007 GS, although not as high as yours.

I'm running Falken Wildpeak AT3 245's instead of the stock 235's. They look impressive and work well in mud.

Try selecting a different program on the centre console knob and see if your traction improves. With the special programs switched off the car will favour the front wheels for traction.

Yep, 4 times no grip is still no grip.
I once parked my Freely 2 on the drive which was covered in thick snow on ice. Drove up onto it fine. Stopped engine, put in first gear and went to get out. Wondered why car was sliding down the hill - thought I was going soft in the head so re applied handbrake and first gear. Still slid down on the ice until started engine, reversed back up and put her sideways over a pile of snow then blocked the wheels.......

My last comment re sliding down hill when stationary on ice was when shod with Goodyear Wranglers, adequate for snow work but I think the Nokian Weatherproofs might fair somewhat better.
