Powerpack

Due to getting a flat battery pre Christmas, luckily at home so no problem in charging battery, I decided to try one of these supposed wonder packs . This one is the item in question.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/DBPOWER-18000mAh-...ds=dbpower

So I run down the battery to test it. Totally useless not even an attempt to turn the engine over. Marketed as being able to start up to a 5.2 litre diesel. Anybody got one of these that work? Was sceptical due to the units size and proved so.

I’ve seen them advertised at shows and wondered how they could possibly work. Aren’t you supposed to hook them up, wait a few minutes until it has charged your battery? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Blurb on this one said push boost button until one got a green light then try to start car, nothing about charging the battery. Like you often wondered how something so small could work, now I know. Very Happy Been refunded so nothing lost.

I have used a unit called "Jumpa" for some time. Amazing piece of kit and have started several totally flat diesels, and even light aircraft and tractors without the need for a re-charge.

when the dealer started mine after standing for weeks he used the GENIUS power pack and that worked, been looking at these packs and seems you get what you pay for.

Price ranges... £19.99 - £107.00. Hmmmmm. Rolling Eyes

www.autovations. Down!! If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I got power pack from Costco a few years ago it's been brilliant was about £65 as I recall, saw something very similar to OP's link on QVC just before Christmas a small unit that fits in a hand bag or glove box charges your phone etc, they showed a young woman in the pouring rain late at night in a deserted car park her car won't start and her phones dead, she pulls out this little thing plugs it into the cars aux socket and the car fires up,I'm laughing at this then it's back in the studio and the presenter says "how many times can this jump start a car before it needs charging ?" The guy doing the demo says "about 40 times" absolute bull crap.

The one I had said do not attempt to start if unit is not at least 30% charged. Mine was 100%, or at least that is what it was showing. After 3 failed attempts was showing 11%. I too saw the QVC thing and had a laugh.
Auto Express seem to think they work maybe is just me.
