I've had the radio lock up once , this happened during startup (I didn't realise until I was under way)

I picked up my Freelander 2 TD4 GS on 10th March. It suffered from the radio regularly freezing (stopping park sensors working) and often failing to start. Land Rover Assistance gave it it's first software update on the 17th March. It went in to dealer 11th April, they played with it for 2 days. It went in again and had the latest software update on 21st May. Land Rover assistance came out again on 25th May. None of which have solve the problems. It went in to dealer again today. I don't know when I will see it again. In addition to the above problems it has unlocked, opened it's own windows twice, the rubber seal round the drivers door frame it de-bonding, the interior trim on the 'B' posts is wearing where the seat belts rub, the onboard computor and tripometer often reset to zero on startup and if you open the windows with Global unlocking on remote not all of them will close with Global locking on the remote. |

The words 'not fit for purpose' spring to mind. Given the experience of others you should be making very loud noises about a replacement car, good luck. |

Landrover had my car for two seperate weeks and pshyically replaced the head unit twiceand several software updates. After the last visit it would appear that the stereo freeze has been eliminated as I have now run for a week without probelms.

The problem is not the HU -it's the amp freezing. HU worked fine but there was no sound, and rear park assist did not sound either. Software update fixed it. As almost all other ones, your dealer replaced items that don't need to be replaced... Quality of reception is fine on mine SE -maybe you should ask the dealer to look if antenna/aerial was hooked up properly after replacing the HU. This is a fiber optic system and aerial is a small "computer" possibly connected to HU by a fiber optic cable. Check before doing any mods to sound system .. |

Reading these threads about the radio issues really does highlight the problem about the complexities of modern cars. The manufacturers / dealers really do have us by the short and curlies - there is nothing that we can fix; inconvenient when under warranty, but expensive thereafter. A Philips scrwdriver and a mole wrench (oh and a hammer of course!) just aren't enough these days. |
