Cheapo WiFi CCTV

Appreciate there is a few old threads regarding CCTV... But Im after a cheapo realise you pay for what you get but even ones from £25-£50 are wifi, IP65 and night vision. It’s just for a farm gate as a precaution. I’m just not sure how accurate the motion sensor would be to actually record footage on the iPad?

Has anyone got a cheapo? What’s your thoughts ... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I think the issue with the cheaper ones is that unless they have some sort of built in storage, they are only useful when you're actually watching them, if you follow.

I've got a relatively cheap Swann system which although fully wired has a hard drive for storage so all activity is recorded so I can go back and view footage as needed. Whereas a WiFi one with no storage will only be useful for live viewing. Plus you still need power. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Thanks chaps for the links it would be nice if any members have some experience of the cheapo cctv’s. Yes chuck the storage did pass my mind. The old iPad does have a good memory and if the clips only record footage when motion is detected then it will be suffice. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

The thing with CCTV I find is that motion detection is rubbish unless you like deer, dogs , foxes , bin men, the postie, jehovas witness etc . Anything and everything can trigger it, and even with quality IR cameras with built in illuminators identification is pretty dodgy for evidential purposes unless you have extra IR illuminator lamps . We just run our cameras 24/7 and as others have said record everything , but with the motion event markers on the recorder turned off.

I’m not sure if you could find one in your price range but if iyou want the camera just for after the event recording an SD card “ Trail Cam “ can do a pretty good job .

Ps lots of CCTV cameras with IR emit a dull red glow , which for cover surveillance somewhat gives the game away . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Unless I'm mistaken, the camera won't record to the iPad automatically. Normally these things have a record button in the app WHILE you're watching, so you can record or take a snapshot of what you're watching live, but they won't do it in a way that say it was triggered while you were asleep, it wouldn't record the triggering footage to the iPad for you to watch in the morning. Your iPad would fill up stupidly quickly if it did that.

Only a proper CCTV system will do that.

As I say though, it's perfectly possible there are cameras out there that record to the cloud but they will be more expensive. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Cheers Julels I’ve got this for £120 all in brand new boxed. Just waiting on delivery yes it was more than I planned to spend but it records on iCloud for 7 days which is more than enough. I’ll update this thread with feedback over time. It’s relativley easy just install the camera and it’s a WiFi connection no wires to router.

i like the idea of a WIFI camera, here is a vast thought (?) Idea we can transmit sound and vision through the atmosphere, isn't it about time they invented WIFI power? It must be an invention for the future, to send power to a device through the atmosphere, it would certainly make electric cars more workable Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
