Random juddering/vibrating (I don’t think engine related )

Hi all , This is my first post not sure if Im doing it right but here goes

I recently encountered a juddering feeling, whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway in 6th gear and it went on for about 60secs then stopped and was fine for the next 30mins and then today it happened again but I was in 4th doing about 35mph :-/

To me it didn’t feel like the engine and I have taken it back up the motorway to try and get it to go again and everything seemed fine. The only way I can explain the juddering feeling is like when you drive over the rumble strips on the motorway but not as harsh a feeling as that, you can defo feel it on the steering wheel. And like I said it seems fine again now.

Any opinions on what this could be, and how I can check ? maybe wheel bearings or somthing ?

Thanks for reading
Regards
Jay

Had something like this a while back and it was a CV joint in a front drive shaft caused by water getting into a badly fitted gaiter. I would jack each wheel off the ground in turn and check for play in the drive shafts and CV joints (you need the wheel to be free to turn) When the shaft is under load the CV joint gets effectively held in a certain position whilst rotating, then when you slacken off it moves to another position and so on (if you see what I mean). Hence the imbalance is not constant. That was my experience anyway. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
