Land Rover have loaned a D5 to Mountain Rescue England & Wales to try out for a year. It is making it's way around the various teams and has just arrived with Coniston MRT.

Best place for it up a mountain in fog where nobody can see it (what a bloody ugly car) |

I'd have thought they would have given one to our mountain rescue in Merthyr/Brecon after all ours were wiped out with all the equipment the fire. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I am surprised they have not been loaned/donated a Defender by one of the LR specialists. More rugged than a D5 too.

I had an email recently about LR experience in Namibia using Discovery 5s, they quote about £6k/person and not obvious if that includes flights. Any takers? (Don't worry, being Africa they will certainly have some old Toyota pickup trucks available if you get stuck .)

Highways agency are taking them. They have an 2.0 240 SD4 at the moment. The D5 is a phenomenal car in the rough, not that the D4 wasn’t but the 5 moves up a level IMO. As with all modern LRs size is an issue. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Yes agree with that, the moment I saw his approach I knew he wouldn't make it.

Cave Rescue in Yorkshire (CRO) have just had the pass around D5 for the last 2 weeks. I think I am safe in saying it never got underground. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
