After 7 years we have said farewell to Betty, our 07 SE, who has been PX'd for a Santa Fe.

Fare thee well Betty. Be interested to hear how you get on with the Santa Claus. Good luck with the new Betty. The South Koreans are turning out more reliable and better built cars than JLR nowadays which is sad but c'est la vie. Amazingly they can also make cars which get better safety scores than the premium brand..... |

The SF section of the HOGB forum is not as boring, in fact it is the most vocal of all sections with faults, the Freely may have some problems but no way would I go back to an SF it has a 5 year warranty for a reason, no one would touch it with a 3 year one and most will replace at the 4 or 5 year point. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I had a Tucson before my FL2 and it did have a few problems - new clutch @ 40000 miles, power steering oil cooler broke , water leak into front passenger foot well. All fixed under warranty, but when my Air con broke ( after 7 years) , it was time to change. (I'd also just spent ~ £700 on having all the belts done so somebody would have got a bargain 2nd hand |

My FL2 left me 3.5 years ago but I still visit the forum. The X3 forums don't seem to have the banter and humour that this place does, I think it is because our X3's are more reliable hence we don't need to vent our fury on the forums Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

With any 10 year old vehicle, unfortunately it's buyer beware, I have seen Rolls Royce's in apparently perfect condition break out in rust round the wheel arches within 3 months of purchase. One can go to any scrappy in the UK and find apparently perfect cars laying there scrapped due to lack of maintenance, most common camshaft belt failure followed by failure to service, no filter or oil change in over 3 years of ownership. You can get a loan for a newer car and start again, getting a loan for a 7 year old car for a new engine is not so easy or even worth while, 4-6 year old cars are cheap in the UK compared to the rest of Europe, I will sell my 2012 car in 3 -4 years out here and get double the UK used prices. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
