No, I haven't been drinking

A stretch of road near me about three miles long has just been re-surfaced. It's a nice black shiney surface and really smooth with almost no tyre noise, so little that I had to open the window to check. It also had nice really white and bright lines - a bit like the old washing powder advert "Omo adds bright, bright brightness". But, the white lines as you approach them turn a bright pink colour up to about 5 metres ahead of the car. The weather was fine and conditions were dry at the time and there was no salt on the road. As soon as I left the re-surfaced bit and back on to the old road surface the pink effect stopped.

Is this some sort of new thing? Anyone else seen it?

And no, I definately haven't been drinking.

J

Yes I saw it the other day while driving over from Chesterfield to Stockport, I did wonder what was going on as the white lines turned purple/pink in the headlights.

they been trying adding fluorescent paint to white lining ? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the refraction that goes on around the edges of projector headlights? If the paint is as reflective as you say, I wonder if it's able to pick this up?
