"It uses magnets and powered touch points to allow the camera to be free from wires . . . " really ? For a simpleton does that mean NO wires at all? Not even power . . . Rolling with laughter

Wales 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red

Just picked up the nextbase 512GW after reading good reports on here and cannot believe the size of them, thought they be lot bigger, this will tuck up nicely behind RV mirror..just need the hardwire kit now and maybe a Power Magic if I can find one as lady in Halfords didn't know what I was talking about.

These power magic, what do they do in layman's terms?

EDIT....Sorry folks for seeming dim here but is the 'low voltage protection' gadget that you can get with the Nextbase dash cam hard wire kit the same thing as a 'power magic' or do I need both? Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Diolch. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Looks like it. It has a USB point for charging so it probably runs on an internal battery. Wonder how long it will last. Sod's law says the battery will go flat seconds before there is an incident you want to have recorded.

the battery is just a back up, it does say "It can easily be installed with the 4m long 12V power cable and can also be hardwired in."
