Mantec - ceased trading

What a great shame to learn that Mantec, the creators of the brilliant sump and tank guards for the Freelander 2 and many other useful bits for Land Rover has, through “a significant downturn in business”, just gone into liquidation Sad

Yeah, great shame.
Probably driven by LR's discontinuation of the Defender and going all 'soft road' in its other offerings. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Also by the extortionate pricing compared to others......... Whistle
They were near us and came over to us at Billing in 2007 when we had the Freelander Owners Club stand. Wouldn't budge on their pricing for Freelander 1 parts even though we said we could make bulk orders through the club. £175 for chequerplate sill guards Shocked About a tenners worth of chequerplate bent to roughly , and I do mean roughly to the right shape. Sorry, but I found all their items to be well over priced.

I'm sorry to her that. I can only go on the quality of the bash plate and tank guard that I bought for the FL2, which were superb and well worth the money.

Although no one seems to be making anything for things like my L405 Full Fat (even getting a proper tow bar is a nightmare) or any of the other modern LR Chelsea Tractors, why they never built bash plates for my previous D4 I shall never know Evil or Very Mad I'd have bought one and would have been happy to pay a premium for it.

Good point. I’d forgotten, what I should have said was they’d never made anything to fit any of the last 2 years’ production of D4’s (the final facelift version). Sorry.

Yup sorry to hear that too as I would have struggled to do a lot of the off road events I have done without my Mantec fuel tank protector in particular.

Disappointing that the market for their kit has gone......

Unfortunately there is probably a bigger market these days for plastic sump guards for use on Chelsea tractors.

PS have a look under a Jeep sometime, they do nice line in plastic underbody protection. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

The front wings of the FL1 were made of plastic.

At the press launch a line of FL1 wings were placed in a line on the ground ........... a FL1 then drove over the wings to prove their strength.

.... and that was plastic technology of 20yrs ago.......

Springy Plastic

I hit a roe deer at the end of November. Pushed the nearside fog light in. Not so bad thought I.

Wrong the intercooler was pushed in. The plastic bumper must been pushed inward some way and sprung back after the collision.

I replaced the intercooler and noticed a split pipe that also needed replacing. That also cured a few fault codes

It limped off at speed no way of catching it to put it out of it's misery. Pity really it would have made a few good meals for the dogs.
