New rims?

I currently have 20 tyres on the wagon. Was thinking about swapping out to 17 to try and cut down on costs when replacing. Do I need LR rims or can is use others with the 5 stud pattern? Cheers

you can use others, just make sure they are suitable for LR for weight as well as fitment.

The website www.wheelfitment.eu is a very good reference point that lists all the different wheel sizes and allows you to make comparisons between wheels fitted to different makes/models in tems of stud spacings/wheel centres etc. You will still have to check that the wheels have a high enough load rating for a FL2 however as that info isn`t included. Thumbs Up

Unless you're sure of the manufacturer and their reputation, I'd stick with genuine LR wheels.

There are a lot of cheap Chinese imported wheels [& copies of originals] which aren't up to the job.

And of course you'll need to advise your insurers [who I think will look more kindly on LR wheels than aftermarket]. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

I think you'll find that a lot of Jag, Ford and Volvo, 5 stud wheels will fit. Just make sure the offset is the same before committing.

Can anyone give me some tips on finding out if these would fit my FL2 without having to go and try? Cheers

The Discovery 3 wheels won`t fit as the stud pattern is wrong for a Freelander. You would have to find out what Land Rover the 17" alloys came from or get the pcd from the inner rim by asking the seller before you would know if they would fit your Freelander.

The second set have tyres 225 rather than the standard 235 width - so probably not a freelander fitting

The ONLY Land Rover wheels that will fit are Freelander 2 (not 1), Evoque and Discovery Sport.
Another site with wheel details is https://www.wheel-size.com/
I have bought and sold quite a few and never had a problem finding them on e-bay or on this forum. Just keep an eye on the for sale section.
20" wheels seem to be quite desirable, so you should be able to sell the existing ones if they are in good condition.
Nowadays, you might find it easier to source 18" Evoque wheels. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Think importing into NZ would make the cost prohibitive though. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
171037Km as of 09/05/22
Superchips Bluefin Flash
Nanocom Evo II (also sold)
