Thanks Alex , mine went in in July for this occasional 'jolt' and it still occurred afterwards at times, went in today with a print out of Septembers bulletin that you posted. It was duly done along with a reset to auto changes so it now has to re-learn my driving habit , but there is now no 'jolt' but a smooth transition from 'N'to 'D' with very little loading of engine revs. Lets hope it continues to work. |

I am having this update applied to mine in a few weeks. Obviously it is targeting the jolt when changing gear when stationary. Can anyone who has had this update done comment on whether it also has a positive affect on smoothing gear changes whilst moving, eg changing down when going uphill? |

I'm afraid that you won't get smooth gear down changes when going uphill. Except when taking it reeeaaaly easy.

All freelanders Auto's are 6 speed, the better 9 Speed box is only on other LR models from 2014 (ewoke, DS) |

Thanks, fair point. Would the twin clutch DSG unit from VW be able to offer smoother gear changes in this situation? The box also sometimes jolts when pulling away so I am hoping this will be improved. |

I used to have an FL1 auto and that box was programmed to stay in the lower gears when starting out from cold until it warmed up. I used to override it using the tiptronic function for the first few miles but does anyone know if the FL2 auto behaves like this? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I've had similar issues with my MY11. Need to confirm with vin numbers but pretty sure this is the same thing. Will this be done FOC by the dealer?

I paid for mine as I use an indy for my servicing. I believe software updates are free at the main dealers during servicing but you would have to check with the dealer first. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
