I'm sure that's true - an extreme one for testing and a "non-damaging" one for the punters. However we did encounter some official LR testers on our half day. I think it's more that the testers don't want their work to be interrupted by Experience people (when we did see them we gave them a wide berth) plus LR have experimental vehicles out there which they don't want you to get too close to. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Before the D2 was released to the dealers I saw a D2 trailered by a Defender, both front and rear bumpers were missing, the doors and wings were dented and it was covered in mud.

That's destruction testing !

Wales 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red

Bora Da all, should have posted this here really but it ended up in another post, DOH.

had my LRE the other day at Peckforton Castle near Tarpoly and must say what an amazing experience, stayed in the castle night before as a birthday treat from missus and made life easier as no traffic to contend with in the morning/
Chris the instructor very polite, knowledgeable and once he knew I had a Freelander we skipped some of the phaff.
Anyway out on the course we put the car through some, in my eyes, serious stuff, had a good drive and not much stopping to explain stuff, just get on and see how we go seemed the order of the day.I must say that after finishing I now have mush more confidence in my car and was quite shocked what the car could do( although it was a discovery sport ) but assured my Freelander could do the same.

TO end.. Great people, Great track and thoroughly a cracking day out, plenty of mud, wading. hillstarts and descents, a very varied track and chuffed to bits I been. Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

The FL2 doesn't have some of the tricksy electronics of the D2 (which I'm sure they showed off to you), but it's actually better off road as it's less likely to bottom out. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Glad to be with out some of the gadgets, especially the speedo projected onto windscreen.......how unnerving !!!
Apart from that can't recall much that mine hasn't got ? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Wading depth indicator and the mode that lets it drive itself over rough ground without input from the pedals (can't remember what it's called). Mind you, my DS doesn't have those either. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

didn't mention the depth indicator but do you mean the hill descent control? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Jaguar call it All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) while LandRover call it All Traction Progress Control (ATPC). Effectively it's an off road cruise control which works between 1 and 22mph. Discovery Sport is also fitted with Low Traction Launch to help you move off in particularly slippery conditions.

Yes, all of that. Only on the more expensive models though. My SETech doesn't have it. But tbh it's just another gimmick. And in fact Vauxhall had something similar on the Frontera years ago. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

ha ha must have stuck me in the basic model as I was on a 'freebie' lol.

Used the traction control but no buttons pressed just on a steep incline in the mud he stopped us and asked what should I do now ? I said reverse back and have a run at it Rolling with laughter but evidently you can just apply a steady acceleration and the car will send power to the required wheels to add more traction..

Anyhow whatever we done it worked as I'm home Laughing

Loved it and thinking of trying another one somewhere else soon. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
