First post - Hello and question about central locking

Hello everyone !!!!

I’ve just taken delivery of my new (to me) 2007 Freelander 2 HSE and it’s lovely 😊❤️

I have a question about the correct operation of the central locking.

I’ve worked out that if I press both the lock and unlock buttons on the fob, it toggles between unlocking just the drivers door and all doors.

When I drive off, all the doors lock. However, when I stop and try to open the front passengers door from the inside, it won’t open. It’s like the child lock is on. If I then press the unlock button under the satnav screen, the door unlocks.

I’ve not tried the back doors yet.

Lastly when I exit the car and press the lock button on the fob, the mirrors fold in, but I have to press the lock button a second time to lock the car.

Is any/some/all of this correct operation or have I got an issue with the locking?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and I look forward to learning a lot from this great resource.

And when I’ve learnt something and know what i’m Talking about, I hope to be able to contribute too.

Cheers

Dave

I’ve not had my LR2 long, but from my experience you seem to have a problem.
My car locks on one press & mirrors fold in. Second press deadlocks the doors.
To unlock, one press unlocks drivers door, two presses all doors.
Drive away door locking is enabled & works. Doors unlock when switching off or with manual use of button on dashboard.
I’ve heard a lot of problems can occur from low battery condition, either the cars or fobs.
Maybe worth starting there. Derek Hill

Mine does what Delboys says.

In addition, if I press the unlock three times and hold the button down on the third click, it opens all my windows which is great in hot weather, and when locking the same, three clicks and hold the last click and it shuts all the windows. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Not that simple to change pre facelift fob batteries. 2013 on its a doddle.

Mine has decided to lock the back the back doors as if child locks set but they are not. Cant seem to clear and just ignore, must be a secret and unknown to me setting as last thing I want stuck in the back of my car is other peoples little darlings Shocked FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Ok. I,ve read the manual and have gleaned the fact that I have to visit a main dealer to have the drive off locking disabled.

Has anyone done this? Is it 💰💰💰?

I need to do more experiments on my Land Rover’s lamentable locking.....

Cheers

Dodgy - Do you not think the Drive Off Locking to be a good thing 95% of the time. Just press the central button to unlock the door - the passenger can open the door then themselves. Jules

You don't have to press three times just press and hold the unlock button for all the windows to open. The same applies to closing the window's press and hold the lock button
