Hi guys. Getting to the time where I need some new tyres. Thinking about going up a size to help with ground clearance. Bit of a quandry really. If I stick at the normal size for 17" (235/65/17) I can't seem to find GG AT tyres anywhere in that size. However I like the look of Pirelli Scorpion ATR's because of the wet road rating being better than the Grabbers. But I can't get the Pirellis in the bigger size. So, do I go bigger and stick with Grabbers, or stay the same size and get the Pirellis?

This guy doesn’t agree with you on the Scorpion ATR’s ability on wet roads! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

I’ve also been weighing up Verde All-Season versus ATR and concluded that i’ll look for the All-Season. While they both have reviews where individuals say they are dangerous in the wet on roundabouts, the only reviews that I have seen that mention snow rate both as equally good. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

I've got the Pirelli Scorpion Atr's on mine and they're a very good Atr tyre , much quieter than the Ggat and better road behaviour wet and dry . The wifes got Michelin latitude cross on her Fl2 which previously had Ggat's on but the road noise was horrendous , the Michelins are in a different league altogether, the car is very quiet now .

I have looked at the Verde all seasons but I'm after something more all terrain, most driving is on the road but when I do go offroad then I really need the At's. General have released the grabber at3 aswell, not sure about them though either. Why does the have to be so much choice |

Ive just started a thread regarding the Grabber AT3, i fancy a set of these but were put off by the reviews of the older AT2 thread which was supposed to very loud. However over on the DISCO forum the AT3s get a very good write up, with a slightly lesser aggressive tread most say they are quieter but still handle multiple terrains very well. 2010 HSE SD4 in Santorini black

If I'm going to go up a tyre size, is 235/70/17 ok to go for? gets me another 25mm clearance and the speed rating is the same as the normal size. Going up to a 245/70/17 drops the speed rating down which I'm not to keen on... |

This tyre will have a slightly different circumference which means that your speedo will not be as accurate. |

Mudstuck, what speed rating are the tyres at? Did you tell your insurance? |
