My son's experience with Warranty Direct on a Porsche 911 wasn't good so I have always gone for the LR full warranty package. Does anyone have a figure for what Warranty Direct charge vs LR extended warranty? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

don't know but I would never in a million years buy an after market warranty from an indy dealer or direct. nothing but bad experience with RAC and Warranty Direct/Wise (whichever Quentin Wilson puts his name to) the only exception would be if the dealer was throwing it in to the screen price and the car was value for money. or something like LR Approved warranty which in my experience has been nothing short of excellent. |

12 December ? are you asking a main dealer to do this ? If so the damage will be more wallet than diff.

I'm near Chichester so Bell engineering in Worcestershire is a bit distant.

Bearing noise is like a deep drone. Diff noise is more likely to be heard when accelerating or on the over run whereas a worn wheel bearing can be heard more when cornering. The noise from either is very similar however. A wheel bearing will sound noisy when turning one way and quiet when turning the other way. If you can find a quite stretch of road and try weaving left and right a bit it might help identify where the noise is coming from. Bearing noises can sometimes be very difficult to pin down as you may notice in other posts where people have had similar issues. You could also try jacking up one wheel at a time and checking for play /roughness in the bearing by holding the wheel at the 6 and 12 o`clock position and rocking it back and forward. (Be safe when doing this and always use axle stands) Some other members have also found that what they thought was a bearing noise turned out to be their tyres that had started to drone when about 3/4`s worn Good luck! |
