United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Ipanema Sand
Bi-Xenon Beam Pattern, Freelander 2, 2010

Hi all,

Just had an MOT failure due to incorrect beam pattern on the wagon. After a bit of further investigation it appears to be that the offside lamp is becoming stuck in the "high" beam position. If given a few taps lamp will drive itself back to the correct position. If I flash the high beam on a few times the offside lamp will lag behind the nearside lamp when returning to the dipped position and then on the second or third flash it will remain in the high beam position. If anyone has any experience with the Bi-xenons and could lend a hand it'd be much appreciated!

It's a Freelander 2, HSE, Td4.e, 2010. It has non-adaptive bi-xenon headlights. If you need any more information don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,

I did have an issue when a bulb shattered. The bulb was replaced but some broken glass jammed the dipped beam shutter.

Taking the unit out, moving the flap manually and giving it a bloody good shake fixed it.

From your description, I'm not sure that's your problem though.

Might be able to visualise the issue a bit better, i'd post videos but it's a bit of a pain.

EDIT:

So i've had the unit in bits and it looks like the shutter mechanism is starting to seize up. Does anyone have any spares? Can't find any kicking about anywhere. Sad Current:
