United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Orkney Grey

Are LR and especially Freelander really that expensive to run and maintain compared with other marques, from a Hyundai forum:-

I'm told that it's part of the foglight, and to replace it is £288 + VAT, and the bumper needs to come off to replace it, so about an hour and a half's labour!!" These are probably the the same units fitted to Hyundai and Kia 4x4 models, cars are just expensive to run if you haven't the time to source spares and fit them yourself.

I used to have a Hyundai Tucson and Hyundais have 5 year warranty so I'd have thought a failing DRL should be covered ??

In one of those bizarre strokes of luck, a PPI refund cheque arrived in the post for £250! It's as if it knew.

Sadly so did the tax renewal but but hey, still awesome. Plus I got the car back. No way I could get shot of it. Love driving it! FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

I had a similar thing some years ago. My wife (now ex) was caught speeding on the motorway, doing 64 in a 40 roadworks.
She was sat on one side of the sofa opening her mail, as I was opening my emails.

Lottery had sent an email saying I had won £354 ! ..... she replied that will pay for my fine of £300. Evil or Very Mad

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

On my daughter's previous Renault Megane one of the headlight bulbs was so difficult to change that a lot of dealers would take the front bumper off. I remember giving up after about an hour and taking it to Halfords who, at the time, were offering free fitting of light bulbs. The guy in Halfords said "oh no, not another Megane headlamp bulb!". We left the car with them and they eventually managed to replace the bulb but shortly afterwards they started charging.
Interestingly when she upgraded to a newer Megane one of the salesman pointed out that the headlamp bulbs were easy to replace. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

That is brutal, but I guess only roughly 3 months payment for a new car. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
