Retrofit - Parking button

Probably not the most exciting of retrofits, but for £9 it was worth a go, and maybe be the start of a more involved fit.

Today I have changed the hard button strip to include the parking sensor button. As I only have rear sensors ( for now) it doesn't do a lot. The tell tale does light up when in reverse, and pressing while in reverse will turn the sensors off.

Simple swap out, no wiring (13my car)

I bought it from 'skan 4x4' on eBay from a scrapper, I think an 11my. They had it up for £22 for 6 months, I bought when it dropped to £9.
It's a dh52 part number, I didn't note the full part number.

Was the wiring for the button already in place on the loom so it was just a plug in or is more work involved? I'd love to be able to turn the sensors off, it is a nightmare when trying to hitch up! 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

On my car the car side harness was populated to the same level as the connector for the buttons so it was as simple as plug and play. Mine is a 13my XS.

It’s from a facelift vehicle. MY13>. Its interesting how many button configurations JLR gave the Freelander 2 (around the clockwork areas) to minimise blanks. Most owners are unaware of this ... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

7” screen UK spec vehicles all came with nav. Non nav came with 4.2” screens. I thought this would be the same with Aus. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Mine is a MY12 GS but the button configuration looks the same, if I ever come across one of the button strips I might give it a go and see if it works, they are not expensive. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

Mine is manual with only rear sensors, I am just looking for a way to turn them off when hitching up my caravan. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

With the electrics plugged in the sensors will mute themselves if you have the genuine electrics MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Mines a manual 13MY with a different dash layout to the one above - no analogue clock and the parking sensor buttons as per Vanny's new set up

LR NUT, it is a genuine LR towbar and electrics but it does not mute itself. LR dealer offered to do a diagnostic for £140 before any works so I've put up with the noise up to now.

Westville, mine is exactly the same layout without the parking aid switch, I assume you have front parking sensors? 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40
