United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White
2018 Range Rover Sport (PHEV at last)

I saw this video and found it interesting.

I hope a smaller LR PHEV is being designed somewhere, as I don't believe I will be able to justify spending out on a RR Sport. (well not to my wife at least)

On that subject, I find that without the business tax breaks, EV, Hybrid, and PHEVs are far too expensive for ordinary private buyers like me.

On the other hand, this PHEV looks nice in white, .........

PS - reminder - must get my lottery ticket! FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Remember that you should only buy a lottery ticket on the day of the lottery. If you buy in advance you have more chance of being run over or struck by lightning than winning the jackpot and you will have wasted £1. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Looks lovely but I would think buying it & servicing/repair bills would be eye watering.

Probably never going to be in my price range until its 20 years old or more but I am still very happy with my Freelander SE.

phev in a LR is a token gesture to keep the bobble hat loonies in check, £80k+ and 30 mile range isn’t really that useful

Wouldn’t save me anything, in fact the 30 mile a day would be more than I need, so £150 a month less fuel, but the £30k extra it would cost to buy compared to my next car, would take 16 years to break even

as above - the PHEV side of it is just a gesture to the city dwelling greenies (and yes I know that fumes etc are a major issue in cities so don't disagree with cleaner transport in London for example)

a 31 mile range on electric is useless to me, I would be permanently on the petrol engine with the driving I do (never venture into the cities and if I do its tram or train)

its just a very expensive token gesture designed for London (other big cities are available)

The Disco Sport will get PHEV option next year, also.

Pricing of the RRS PHEV, I don’t think is too bad, £70k, I think it’s cheaper than the last Hybrid (not sure) and a lot more useable. 31 miles on electric is enough for most commutes, the whole point of a Hybrid is to run it on electric in towns and cities and use the petrol power for the motorway runs. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

yes it is designed to be driven on electric in the city and that's fine

yes the price for what it is, is 'reasonable'

but...

31 miles would not get me to work, ever! I would need a portable charger to park up at 30 miles and leave it charging, then bike the last 5 miles to the office Laughing

and how ling will the battery last in city traffic, stood still, stopping/starting etc etc.......... the petrol engine would still be kicking in most of the time so IMO PHEV like this are just to keep the green brigade and the government they bully, happy.
