ATF change

Today I have had the ATF replaced the car is just short of 65K the old oil was saved so I could have a look and if you did not know you would have thought it was old engine oil.The gear change is now so smooth even though I didn't think it was bad before,I think this sealed for life is a load of rubbish.

Can you tell me if indeed, as your profile says, is a MY2007, which fluid did you use and if you've had the Q106 service action performed? Thanks.

Hi Alex
It is a 2007 see the fluid was from Landrover as for Q106 I doubt it it was done by a local independent plus I don't know what Q106 is.

Hi Alex
Just found it using the search I had the ATF changed as a precaution after reading on here about problems I also had the haldex oil and filter changed last year for the same reason I was not having any problems.

The Q106 will reduce the wear of the torque converter clutch. I believe part of the oil being so black was the TCC particles were in it.
Also Q106, if it's an automatic, will address the Haldex software too, in order to reduce the static load on the rear differential attack pinion bearing.
