After almost 2 years battling cancer, my dad passed away this afternoon. Heartbreaking but I'm relieved he's not suffering anymore. I'm also pleased I managed to raise the 1200+ for the hospice and got to tell him all about it and show him the photos.

Sorry to hear of your loss Dave. I lost my father a few years ago after a long spell in hospital where he had been suffering for some considerable time with COPD. I was very lucky to be with him and holding his hand when he passed away and told him that I loved him but all I could think of after he had passed was that it was a relief that he wasn't suffering anymore. I'm sure you'll all keep his memory alive by talking about the good times you had. My dad lives on through me as will I live on through my son and your dad will live on through you. Thinking of you and your family at this sad time. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks guys for the kind words I really appreciate it. I am glad we were all there for him at the end because it could quite easily have happened in the night and even though the hospice had been instructed to phone us with any significant changes, they might not have been able to alert us in time.

It was my dads funeral today which was emotional of course but it was a fitting send off for a great man. Some of the directors of the company my dad worked for (he managed the Alfreton branch of Brandon Tool Hire for 42 years but it changed hands many times of course) were in attendance and told us that they will be putting up a memorial plaque behind the counter in the branch for all staff and customers to see

Hi Doc, May I send my condolences to you and all family at this sad time. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
