I have recently purchased a 2006 manual with 115k and as you do i had it serviced and then had the cam belt done as its 10 years old. Now i have a clutch slip that is getting worse. I have seen on here that this is a common issue and its in this week for a new clutch DMF and slave. The question is what else can i expect to shell out for? |

So much depends upon how and where the car has been looked after in the past. eg constant short journeys are really bad for engine wear as it never gets really hot. But at 115K miles things are going to show signs of wear and/or drop off etc. Jules |

When parked with the engine off and in 1st gear you can freely spin the prop shaft. Austin diagnosed spline failure. |

fair point, I was just curious to know the symptoms as the splines had gone on my Evoque between gearbox and transfer box. |

Oh dear it’s not great is it. For now I am going to have to leave the transfer box as I have sunk everything I have to sort the clutch. Austin says it won’t do any more damage but it will just run as a 2 wheel drive. |

yeh I no longer have the Evoque, it was sold to me by LR Approved with badly repaired accident damage. It had taken a serious knock on the nearside underneath and down the side and the impact had damaged the transfer box or parts connected to it. LR failed to pick up on it so it wrecked the splined shaft to the gearbox which resulted in a replacement transfer box and gearbox under warranty, but then the clutch/DMF was then highlighted as being faulty as well which wasn't covered by the warranty. So the car went back to LR.

Oh that’s very interesting. I have noticed they the near sided back window has been refitted as it’s not flush and the centre pillar trim looks like it’s nit fitted correctly. It’s put on with a foam sticky pad under it. I also seem to have a strange steering thing when turning right. It steals a correctly then steals in tighter I was putting it down to a warn ball joint. Maybe mine has had a smack. I now wonder if I ha e been sold a cat D. Don’t think it says on the log book. |

I have just been told by my mechanic that he can do my clutch for £345 and clutch and flywheel for £570. Was amazed at the price. Everywhere else quoted £1300 + |
