245 70 17s

Just fitted a set of these:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/245-70R17-IRONMA...SwfR1ZbKTN

Seem to be an American tyre, hence not a huge amount of info on them online.
I guess someone has bought a container load from the states Question
For £45 each delivered +£10/tyre to get them fitted they seem excellent value, good tread, quiet - Complete set of 5 fitted for £275 and they're not cheap "Ditch Finder 3000s"

Also...in case anyone has a wallowy FL2 - the coopers XST on the front prior to this seemed to be the cause, they had loads of tread, but had started to perish and gone soft!
So despite increasing the sidewall size, the ride has actually improved! Thumbs Up

that ad is for T rated normal load tyres

T speed rating is for a max of 118mph but the standard fitment is H or higher (149mph +)

While it is unlike you will be driving at 118mph the LR top speed figure is around that or higher (IIRC 123mph is the top speed for the SD4) and the factory standard is H or better. So there is a measure of over rating.

So if you have fitted T rated tyres, they are below the recommended speed rating and at best an insurance company could refuse to pay out on that basis, at worst .............. Shocked

That's a very fair point and I appreciate that might be an issue for a lot people.

For us using a freelander mainly on country lanes and in fields with an occasional 70mph dual carriageway run, i'll give them a go this winter.

Maybe i should delete the thread Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't worry about it speed rated to 118 mph would be fine by me.

definitely don't delete the thread Shocked

I appreciate that 99% of people on here wont go anywhere near 118mph...... but insurance companies have been known to refuse claims when the tyres were not to the manufacturers factory recommendations (or better). im not doubting in the slightest how good the tyres are etc just the ratings in comparison to the factory fitment.

We don't buy a 2.5 ton 4x4 for speed or economy.... Very Happy
