Use of mechanical key

I was recently on holiday and had the misfortune to have a problem with the door locks such that I had to use the mechanical key that lives inside the key fob. What I discovered was that it was very difficult to get the plastic cover off the door handle. I don't know if it was my particular car and I have never had reason to try this before but two of us tried for about 30 mins before we managed to get in. It didn't help that the instructions were locked in the car and we eventually got in through the tailgate to retrieve them! If you have a spare minute it might be worth trying it out. I think in our case we hadn't pushed the key in far enough but it took some force to release the cover. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
