United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

The Telegraph has just published its first piece on its long term Discovery, and it's sadly predictable:

"... the first report is sadly a litany of problems with the car."

"B***** Land Rovers and their b***** electrical/software problems."

Etc. Not good.

He seems surprised.

So far I've had two recalls and a poorly fitted piece of trim which is about to get fixed, 4 days at the body shop to fix it though. Which is nothing compared to some. Premium price but I don't feel I have a premium product.

I hope they fixed all the electrical problems for the launch of the Velar. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

In the review he isn't too dismissive of the Discovery, in fact, he fully believes that the cars issued will be resolved and will go on to be a good family vehicle. True, issues at this price should have been ironed out before being released to the public but this isn't the only new vehicle out there today that is suffering from being put on sale to early.

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Firenze Red

Using customers as test mules is ridiculous, that's why I would never by the first of any brand . Expensive with very little toys on the first run , give it a couple of years to iron out all the faults with a spec update.
When I bought my freelander I had the choice of the disco sporty , it was a no brainier, I took the freelander, last of the line & hopefully most of the faults fixed. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Same here, could have waited for the replacement. Did as much research as possible & decided to get one of the last petrol engines I could find.

I would not swap the Freelander for a DS if you gave it to me! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Guess for me it was the same! Initially I was waiting for the Freelander 3 didn't like the mule shapes shown and then thought better to get last of NEW FL2's with hopefully most of the cars little niggles being rectified by then. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

When I bought the Freelander it had been registered, but it was a very inconvenient registration date for travelling to Europe. So I got the dealer to put it into storage for a few months then reregister it at the end of the year. Our previous car we bought with the same date in mind.

So I buy a new Freelander & had to wait very patiently for months to actually get to drive it, but it was worth the wait! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The car was ordered with finance for another person. Then they could not get approval. I paid cash for it, well mostly transfer, but I did pay the deposit in actual cash! The car must have been sitting around for a long time due to various legal issues, who knows, because it is a MY13. The dealer registered it in July 14, we bought it in August after 4 months in Europe. But because the car was new I could get the registration date shifted, but only the dealer can do this. They had done 700 km when I bought it. I think they had a bit of trouble selling it as it was a country dealer where diesel is all people buy. I wanted petrol due to my mostly short city trips & the less regular long country holiday!

I travelled 300 km (600 return) to look at it, & then again to eventually pick it up, which we then went on a short holiday at the time.

So basically as far as I am concerned it is a new car as of end of 2014 when we took it out of the showroom. This year unfortunately I will have to get it first registration inspection, but the car will be ok. It is just short of 15,000 km to date!

Other then petrol, I wanted white paint, there was one other Freelander locally with a petrol engine in Ipanema Sand, the colour is relatively light & I quite liked it, it had a pile of extras on top of the standard SE, (they only do SE in petrol in Aust.) & they would have sold it to me for the same price as the white one. But I wanted white & more importantly light coloured seats, so I was happy to go without satnav, electric seats, xenon headlights, 19" wheels etc. I have been in cars with black leather & you burn your ars_ in summer! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Gerry McGovern is away with the fairies. Again!

Did you catch the interview where he said that, because we were not "professional designers" (like he is), we are not qualified to comment on his designs? So, there you go Gerry, you must be wonderful and we need to just accept everything that you say and do. As mere customers (and now dealer's as well, it would appear) we would apparently do well to accept everything his Gerryness hands down from the mountain.

Personally, I think he's hopeless and shouldn't be trusted with a pencil, let alone a design department, but what do I know? I'm not a "professional designer".
