Paint bubbling

Only just noticed this and it wasn't there last time I washed the car. Any thoughts?

Just checked under the wheel arch and you can feel it peeling away so it's water that's got under the paint. I presume this will steadily get worse so I best draft in the paint guy I've used for years. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I assume if you take off the plastic liners you will find a lot of wet old muck. Got to be worth taking off the plastic trims every so often to get the muck out pre winter when salt will hang in there as well. No idea how good the extended corrosion warranty is assuming the right box is checked on a service. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Is that a front wing on a Golf Doc ? Certain Vw and Audi models suffer the wing rot from the inside out due to some padding or something getting wet and rotting from behind the panel .

I approached her after reading on various forums that VW will try their best to avoid honoring the 12 year corrosion warranty and excuses such as the wrong type of rust have been known!!

They use a company called Mondial apparently and they are awful to deal with. I just sent her a quick message and she had a word with her people who contacted both me and the VW dealer in Derby and job done Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

12 year corrosion warranty is amazing... aren't most manufacturers 6 years ?

it shows how confident they are in their bodywork to offer that, bit like Kia with their 7 year unlimited warranties as they must have faith in their whole vehicle for that

I was parked near an 08 Passat estate the other day the front wing was actually in holes, thought at the time VW should be better than that, rest of the car looked pretty much ok.

^^^^^^^^

I wonder how many 2nd/3rd/4th owners of VW under 12 years old realise they have a manufacturers paint warranty still in force ??

I seem to remember from my VW days that the car has to be serviced by an authorised dealership and that bodywork inspection has to be signed off each year. Furthermore the warranty only covers paintwork defects created by erosion from poor application of paint rather than as a consequence of, say, a stone chip. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

yeh I think that would be another get out clause for the warranty company if the car wasn't dealer serviced with the boxes ticked for corrosion checks etc.

personally I wouldn't expect them to cover stone chips or scratches etc but bubbling paint caused by water/rust getting under the surface I would expect.
