What I mean is that I have LCD at the back. The av input is installed at the bottom rear of the storage tray.. I believe that's the spot where the armrest would be installed?

Do you mean you have 2 of these?

yes I do have two of those as well but the av inputs are separate.
basically the rear cup holder which looks like this




has been changed to this





and I believe this part needs to be removed totally to fit the arm rest?

Hi all,
I just got the car for service. I just feel there is too much engine noise inside the cabin. Even at normal speeds it's like as if I am driving on the motorway. There is little vibration but more of the engine noise at concerns Me. It's as if there is less deadening material or a leak between the cabin and the engine bay. I inspected a few things and found some stuffs.. not sure if this is the reason

First is the driver side engine mount






Does it look as if it's broken?


Secondly is the steering shaft going to the engine .. is this hole normal ?



Is there any other areas to check? I don't think a freelander or any car have so much engine noise really.. it sounds as if the rpm is 3000-4000 while the car is just doing 1000

It was something like £2k from LR and £1k from the dealer on PCP, it could've been a dealer offer I can't remember exactly, I've had one or two since then , but it made the XS spec appealing as I was originally going for Mauritius Blue GS. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Just made this small video.. not sure if you can make out the amount of noise inside the cabin and is this normal?

Turn on the radio - Thats normal at tick-over and not moving listening to that vid clip. Choice and depth of tyres will change road noise moving between differing cars.

Go and sit in one at a dealers to check if you are unsure.

Sorry for that clip as it doesn't pick up the noise very well. It's not the ticking noise or vibration.. that's very normal for a deasel engine car. but it's the more "wind noise" type of sound which is annoying me. Not sure if you can notice but the car is just standing still yet sounds as if it's doing 70 on the motor way..

Take it to a garage then, if it has something on the edge of failure why would you want to procrastinate further

Hi all,
I have finally been able to find this so called "wind noise"....
so basically with the AC on , the noise starts low and then keeps growing louder and louder and then suddenly disappears. And then again the whole cycle continues...
with the ac off, the noise goes away permanently.. I now think it's something to do with the AC but I am not sure which part..
I can also notice that the noise is from inside the cabin or very close to the cabin .. also under the hood at the left side where the AC pipe runs, that pipe is ice cold with water droplets everywhere.. is this normal ?

If the air con refrigerant is low it can make a whistling noise as is passes through the expansion valve. The vale will be located on the bulkhead where the ac pipes enter the heater box. Should be just a ac regas to fix it.
As for the water on the pipes this is normal condensation.

while I was there I drove another freelander 2 but this was HSE model.. what a difference!! All those extras make the car feel so much better. One question

All the freelander 2 with different trim level have the same sort of sound proofing ? The hse I drove really (2007) really sounded so much quieter ..
