England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue
Discount

Again i looked on the web, only 2 online "car finders" could offer me a car but when i asked for a confirmation price, they replied "No Discounts availble this time", auto sel did put me through to a dealer in yorkshire who did offer me a very near spec FL2, if i bought end of January 07 it was approx 5% off, but i still looking at what else was on the market, we tried the New Grand Vitara, look ok drives Cr*P, NEW Honda CRV, boy is it one ugly motor, but the engine sweet though, I was not going down the Korean road!, and the entrail is as square as a DC3, so back to the local main dealers, first Marshals of bedford we had a good long test drive, offered me a Loyalty discount, (TD4 previous), Etc, trade in value was low ( as every dealer wants to make 2K on a used motor), so walked away, visited Stratstone MK, ( I had been on mailing list + launch evening), still got a average trade in, but got a OK Deal on a Brand NEW FL2, so you can get Deal go visit a dealer near the end of the month as they have to sell there qouta, if they wont do a deal just walk OUT, they Will get back to you! Thumbs Up

The great advantage of the this forum , and part of the internet , is information. In any buy / sell negotiation, the more you understand the needs of the other party, and their ground rules the better you are positioned to cut the deal that you're interested in. I'm not in the motor trade , but am in the sales game. I assume that Car sales guys are going to be paid in a variety of similar ways, yes commission, but also bonuses , and other performance incentives. These incentives can easily exceed a pure commission based element once you get to certain targets. Also dealers sell cars all the time and are experienced at it, we buy few cars and so are in-experienced. Information levels that mismatch.
So if you are in buying mode , and your timing is such that the seller is close to these 'threshold' values, maybe number of cars , maybe finance, maybe dealer fit items .. who knows (but you need to try and find out), then sales price is much more flexible ... because the sales guy is close to his incentive targets , and now he's on 'your side' in the negotiation with his manager. his manager may be close to his and so you're there.
In all these negotiations the seller needs to believe you're are ready to close the deal. If you're not ready then don't waste his time.
So the trick is 1) See what fleet / lease buyers are getting in the way of manufacturer's support (aka discount which was 5% when I researched), this gives you your baseline. 2) Time your aquisition in line with the dealer buisiness goals ( end of month , end of quarter , end of year). 3)Understand what value you place on a local dealer relationship .. this is different for everybody ... The chances of getting a really poor car that you would reject under UK Consumer legislation is low , but I'm not sure I'd want to do that with a dealer at the other end of the Country .. but that's my way of saying I put reasonable value on a local sales relationship.
So this means that where you live impacts what you can achieve in the deal (nothing new there Smile )
Bottom Line ... Do your homework and if you feel unhappy with deal then don't sign. If you're happy then sign, looking at what other people paid after the event shouldn't alter anything because you felt happy with your deal (and you'd done your homework)

My deal ... 1.8K off a new TD4 GS.

United States 2007 LR2 i6 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

Must be nice to work with the dealership for a discount. We only have on Land Rover dealership here in Hawaii And he does not cut to many deals. And I am a repeat buyer. He took $200.00 of the top, but added it back on with floor mats. In the end I caught him with the math and he sold me the mats for and gave a $50.00 gift card. I think I got a good trade in for my 04 Discovery so that made things even I think Rolling Eyes

Shocked ONE??? i think we have 25 dealership here in California and like 10 of which is near my place.

went to Thousand Oaks LR and thinking it was the nearest but not... anyways, it was a blessing in disguise as
the people there are so accommodating and friendly the best yet so far me and my wife had when it comes to auto dealers...

they did not gave me the Invoice Price difference which is $3,000+ off MSRP but instead paid $3,000 more to our trade-in vehicle plus a very good low APR financing...plus the mat and a full tank of gas.

and yesterday my wife received a mail from LR with a complimentary Family Portrait Pictorial worth $1,000 from a renowned photographer Laughing ...damn wish it was the LR Experience though Very Happy Do Not Follow Me...You Can't Go Where I Go!!!

.....up in the tree!!!
