Scotland 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
New to the Freelander 2 scene

Hi
im news here. This my Freelander 2 XS 2011 facelift.
Full spec.
I purchaced it december 2016.
It had 1 lady owner and full L/D service history.
Since then I've done a few up grades to it.
Had it remapped because the restricted 150hp XS version i found, was extremely flat on the take off!.Since the remap it was a massive difference! Also the extra mpg was quite significant !!Best 250 I've spent!! Thumbs Up
Ive colour coded the surrounding part of the front grill..cause i find it horrendous lol,and the grill itself matt black.
20" evouqe black and chrome wheels sitting on pirelli's.
Also Black badges all round.

Best all round practical car I've ever owned!!

Cheers JF

Welcome looks nice. Wheels maybe a bit too bling bling for my liking are they polished alloys? Like your diadem indicator bulbs running them on mine too as I hate the egg fired look Laughing . We're a friendly bunch on here. Thumbs Up MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Cheer guys! Wink

yeah they were reburbed.Diamond cut.It actually looks quite minimalist in the flesh.

Im wanting to upgrade the head lights to the future led models.Ive managed to buy 1 Thumbs Up lol passenger side, but i think it could be the non signature stripe version which is not ideal but still an improvement on the older versions.

Thanks for looking anyway Thumbs Up

Do you have a close up photo of the headlamp? Is the signature strip chrome or a clear white outline ? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

No probs Thumbs Up Tbh mate I'd get a set of UK spec xenons the halogens are crap and bulbs keep popping. A single filament bulb HB3 is your dip and full beam. A metal cover partially covers the bulb for dip and retracts providing full beam. The light output is shocking. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Right ok mate sounds good Cool You any idea anywhere (besides eBay)i could pick up a set for a decent price?Ebays a bit of a hit and a miss, and I'm not really up for paying 1400 lol

another question sorry.lol

Whats the best way to convert my original wiring setup, to led? I seen some sort of a connector adaptor thing on eBay for about 250.Would that be the best way to do it in your opinion?

Thanks for your time mate

Yep had yet another HB3 bulb go on me at the weekend, ive hardly used the dipped beam due to it being summer down here Cool Confused ) but the first time I use them on Friday night one goes as soon as I switched on. Turns out the bulb has exploded and there are shards of glass now melted into the plastic interior of the light unit.

HB3 really are the most useless piece of Censored ever invented !!!

I re-wired the internal wires of the headlamp, rather than the loom. Did this sometime ago ..... don't have a diagram .... as I design things in my head ....... comes of being an Olde Engineer. Yawn

Being a 2011 facelift you might have had the well known hesitation problem which LR never managed to resolve. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Ive never heard of that mate! Well theres a good possibility that could be the case!
Before i got it done, you could genuinely feel it wanting to go but just nothing there when you hit the gas up and down the gears, especaily with it being manual! I read into it.It was basically just a marketing move by land rover.
The only difference between the TD4 and the SD4 was basically a restriction on the ECU?
I got it done and it was like night and day!!! The flat spots early through the gears had gone....So as i said best 250 I've spent Thumbs Up

Very well done mate!Car looks class!!Loving the lights!! Cool
Where did you acquire yours from if you don't mind me asking?
Sorry i don't know how to reply direct to any one yet?
Still getting to grips with this...Im a bit of a computer cave man at this but i'll get there lol.

Thanks for the replys
Thumbs Up

Got my latest one from LR Christchurch near Bournemouth.
Not sure that SD4/TD4 is just software though. There were some changes to the engine made at 2011 which introduced a DPF for reduced emissions and some difference in injectors. Some people with early 2011 models experienced hesitation when pulling away and it seemed to be more common on hot days in the summer, in my case a s/w upgrades from LR dealer and "remapping the airflow" seemed to do the trick.
I am finding the SD4/auto combination really good to drive but the gearbox seems to drop a gear when going up a hill that my previous TD4/manual would have taken in 6th. This might be down to the higher gearing on the auto box in 6th or just the way the thing is programmed. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
