Press and hold opens all windows for vent

A guy gave me a useful tip the other day.

If you want to vent the heat out of your car before you get in, you can open all the windows automatically, by simply pressing and holding the "open" button on the remote.

Same works in reverse, if you want to shut all the windows when locking up.

Nice little feature, and could be useful to us in the summer.

Found it when I finally got round to reading the manual properly

Page 36 of the Owners Handbook states "Global Opening - Press and hold the unlock button for 3 seconds to unlock the vehicle and open all of the windows" Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

I think this feature is disabled in North America. I can't get get it to work for me either. Maybe the dealer can enable this. I will ask when I go in this week to get some accessories fitted.

I've found that my "global opening" works fine. However, the "global closing" that supposedly closes all the windows when you hold the "lock" button pressed only closes the back windows. I guess this is related to the fact that my front windows don't appear to have a one-touch close facility. I assume that these are all dealer configurable though, so I'll get them to have a look next time I'm passing. Does everyone else's front windows close with one touch?

I wonder if this feature might be disabled in North America for potential litigation reasons? I think I'm right in saying that some manufacturers disabled one-touch closing in case a child stuck his head through a closing window etc etc.

One thing I'm going to watch out for though is a couple of times we've found my wife's Mini Cooper S's windows and sunroof wide open when she's had her keys in her jeans pocket and presumably the open button has been accidentally pressed and held.

Global opening and closing works fine on mine Very Happy . It closes all windows but not the sunroof. Nightfox have you tried resetting the windows (this is in the manual as well) - this could fix the problem with your front ones.

Sorry North America, I contacted my dealer today about enabling this feature and they claim that the US key fob is different than the ROW fob and won't work. Big Cry Greg East
