I have a 2012 Freelander 2. With increasing regularity, after having stopped after coming to a standstill, into neutral, clutch up, I will depress the clutch for the restart, but nothing happens. The word "Autoclamp" appears on the display and it can be a couple of minutes before it will come back to life. Embarrassing when on the front row at the lights! Any ideas?

Turn it off before any journey, I hate the thing. More wear on starter and ring gear etc.

OK having said that, if your battery is 5 years oldish get a new one as the "STARTING POINT" it will be up for one soonish anyway and may just clear the issue. Do a hard re-set on fitting. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks for that advice, the battery is about five years old so that would fit in with what you have suggested.

I fitted a new battery when my car was just 5 years old. The stop/start system didn't seem to work at all (i.e. it didn't stop the engine so it wasn't really a problem).

That fixed it for a while but after about 18 months the stop/start stopped working again (even after a 100+ mile run). I'll be damned if I'm replacing it again!

However, I've never seen the word "Autoclamp" on the dash. Wonder what it means?

Oh yes - the old battery that I took out is still working fine in my caravan two years on, being kept topped up with a solar panel.

"autolamp delay" -- appears every time the engine stops when lights on auto. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
