Rupert cut his paw at the weekend, running after his ball

It's hard to tell, due to hair, but it appears to be between the claw and pad, it bled a little and after a bathe it stopped

We was looking today and could see no wounds or signs of anything but he has ran again just now and his bled again

Is it best to just keep it clean, and give time to heal or would it be advisable to visit the vet, but I don't think there's is anything that needs a stitch or stuck in the paw Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Keep it clean and try and stop him licking it. Try putting an old sock on, if you can get it to stay on.

He doesn't seem to be licking it, just then odd occasion, but have socks and some vet tape to hand if needs be

How long does something like this take to heal, it was Sunday and kept quiet until he saw his tennis ball and decided to run to get it last night

Our friends had a similar problem with their retriever. Every time it appeared to heal, after a walk, it opened up again. They ended up buying a special dog boot (a bit like a neoprene divers boot) and that gave it enough cushioning to heal up. Took less than a week to fully heal. Our Susie had the same but we kept her in for a few days (not an easy thing to do with a working cocker!) and it healed up with no treatment needed. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

OK, I'm going to p*ss people off now.
Instead of getting questionable information from forum members, why not take the animal to a vet. They have after all done a 4 year course on veterinary surgery.
It may be alright to ask forum members advice on subjects such as boilers etc but this is your dog.

At £44 a 'look' at my vets, I only go if my dog seems distressed in any way. A cut paw on a dog is generally no more an inconvenience or hardship to it than a broken fingernail or a boil on your arse is to you or I. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I'm with 768will on this one. Waiting to see if something will work while potentially getting an infection or whatever isn't really fair on the dog. There are no experts on here as far as I know so I would be incline to get it checked by someone who can reliably advise what to do.

However this is nothing compared to a post I saw on a parenting forum where someone had posted to ask if anyone thought it might be a problem if their 2 year old had drunk an entire bottle of Calpol. Hadn't called a doctor or hospital or anything. Stunningly poor parenting. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
