If you don't mind my asking where did you get those prices from? Common sense isn't very common.

Only time will tell how much wear I will get but my CrossClmates are quiet and plenty of grip but not cheap. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Having searched and failed to find 19" Conti Cross Contacts nearby and available, I have just fitted 4 x Avon ZX7s. They are listed as C,A,70db and cost about £125 fitted per.

They are certainly quieter than the worn Conti Cross Contacts they've replaced but as for longevity etc... who knows.

I've always fitted Pirelli tyres to the Freeland and a mixture of Avons and Pirellis to my Discovery. The last pair of Scorpions on the Discovery were appalling for wear and steering.

I'm going for Avons as I've never had a bad Avon tyre. Whats more the new ZX7 is manufactured in England.

I found Asda dearer than most for a given set of tyres fully fitted. Black Circles accepted my order (and payment) for 4 Conti Cross Contact UHP and then phoned the day before fitting appointment to tell me they could only get two...

That said, B/Circles would have been the cheapest had they been able to supply. The Avons were £25 per corner cheaper than the Contis.
