So far.... 2 issues

1: The connects2 canbus bit for the rear parking sensor will not work which is annoying to say the least it should work Smile

2: fm reception is awful, does the Freelander do some weird enhancement of the aerial that is getting confused when going into a stardard radio.

bUt apart from that it's all ok, will just listen to my iPhone till the weekend and will have another go then, but until then this is how it looks. Smile

Can use phone through stereo for calls, sat navy works and speaks through the speakers etc...

I changed a standard Vauxhall head unit for a Chinese made custom fit all in one head unit, and had similar issues with radio reception. Reading up on it, it appeared that the Vx head units had a built in amp/filter inline with the antenna connection so I bought a plug in to connect between the antenna lead and the antenna input on the back of the head unit. It improved things slightly but not by much.
Don't if LR do a similar thing with their head units

Will pick up a booster tomorrow.

The connct2 canbus bit I'm emailing them waiting to see if they will just send me a replacement part so I can try it.

Any further update on this? as I was thinking of going to Halfords to get it fitted on their £399 fully fitted deal. Specifically I don't want to loose the parking sensors etc.

If they can fully fit it and get them working go for it.

Connects2 said my kit worked in their test car but didn't in my fl2 early 2010 (no reversing sound no matter what I tried)

So I ended up getting a refund and went with a different kit. In the end we needed a kit plus one extra bit, but it works perfectly. We also spent £30 on an eBay to get a reversing camera, that works perfectly when you stick it into reverse.

https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=4908 £229

https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=3959 £60 <---- not strictly required, but this dims the display at night, and tells the radio when the hand break is on so you can then play with Bluetooth settings etc.. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

I also added sat nav, as I got bored having the box above the radio Smile

@Booktrunk, Ive installed the same kit as you, can I ask, does your steering wheel answer/end call toggles work? Also, do your speakers on the tailgate c pillars work?

Yes they work, both the rear speakers and the controls on the steering wheel. That was using the incartec.

I think someone said the subwoofer in the boot wouldn't work, but as i've got two subwoofers already (labradors) I haven't noticed if this is or isn't working). It doesn't sound any different to me. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

booktrunk,
I am looking at fitting a Sony head unit to my 2010 Freelander and was looking at the incartec kit you linked into your post. Can you tell me if your parking sensors worked with this kit and you also mentioned about " another bit ". What was the other bit.

Hi.

Sorry not looked in here since the new year.

So the extra bit is the 2nd bit in the link. This isn't strictly necessary, but it tells the car that the handbrake is on, so you can go into some of the settings on the radio and it will allow you to do things on the radio that are blocked whilst the handbrake is off, as it's a security thing they don't want you messing with it whilst moving. It might not strictly be needed, but i got it anyway.

Yeah parking sensors work. You bypass the inbuilt tone alert, but you get a small buzzer that replaces it. I put this under the speaker hole in the centre of the dash and it works fine. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

Hi booktrunk,

Thanks for the reply.
I wasn't sure about the other bit as the link is no longer working for the second item on your posting but i noticed on the main kit from Incartech it looks like they have added the parking sensor retention instead of something extra.
Can I ask if it was a straight forward job to swap over using the kit from Incartec or is any special skills required.

It looks scary when you pull everything apart but it’s not complicated, but you need to be methodical, and take pictures of everything as you go so you know what goes / went where.

It looks intimidating but it’s not, it’s just slow and steady

I had already removed the existing unit to confirm that my one was fibre optic and put it back in so that part doesn't scare me it was mostly to do with the fitting kit. Is it quite straight forward without any specialist knowledge, I am hoping you don't have to run any wiring or having to find other live feeds or anything like that, is it mainly plugging in connectors from the kit into the FL2 wiring looms and new head unit. I was going to put it into Halfords to be fitted but the fitter told me they have been told not to touch any vehicle that has fibre optic.

Ohh do we need to run new cable for the speakers I really cannot remember I thin you need to run a cable to the unit in the boot for the speakers, so that it bypasses the built in amp. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS
