At times when the car is working hard, I get hot air through the fascia vents (and no the temp in the cabin is not turned up!). Temp gauge is at normal, engine is performing great.
Its very noticeable and slightly concerning.

Any ideas?

Tell you the truth I don't know! Ac seems to work ok.

Mike, you havn't really given a lot of information to go by but if your refering to whilst the A/C is on your getting hot air momentarily then I'm guessing, as your in Sydney and is quite a humid climate, lived there for 7 years, the evaporator may be icing up and the system detect this and from time to time will actually heat the evaporator to remove iced moisture from the evaporator fins.
Best way to check and avoid this is to constantly run on recycle air as the incoming air is ladden with moisture which get trapped on the freezing evaporator. MY15

Sorry. Obviously not enough info given by me initially. It is happening with no aircon. Just
Heated fresh air. Obviously the engine is hot but the temp gauge is not indicating an rise in engine temp.

Temperature is controlled by an "airmix" flap actuator which runs off the HVAC Lin. You'll need to get it diagnosed basically.....
Could be Ambient Air Temp Sensor or faulty actuator motor, just easier to plug it into diagnostics and it will tell you which sensor on the Lin or CAN that's giving the problem. MY15

Recently using the car I had accidentally turned the AC off, & the temp was set to about 20. It got pretty humid and warm in the car in maybe 5 minutes. Then finally realised the AC was off. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Like Mike (my mistake) from time to time I have had this hot air coming thro. the air vents while the AC off. When it happened I turned on the AC then it's stopped.
Last year I reported the AC unit not giving enough cold air like it used to before. They checked the gas pressure then told me AC worked fine but the problem about not enough cold remained. Recently I was at Hellford and they did the free check only to find out that the gas was full.
Just spoke to LR in Team Valley about the possible sensor or actuator fault as Stuartc suggested and they booked me in next week to investigate. I'll report back about this.

LR Team Valley did the diagnostic today and they said they found no fault code and the AC works normally.
However they will investigate further as the problem of hot air which went through the vents only happened intermittently. I told them that I thought the ambient sensor is the problem as I didn't get much cold air from the AC like I used to.

Thanks Paxman for the follow up. Look forward to seeing how it progresses. I'm am traveling to Canberra today. It involves a good climb via Brown Mountain. It'll test the situation as the temps will be just below freezing!

The LT TV found out that the ambient sensor is located inside the passenger wing mirror's housing. He isn't sure if replacing it might fix the problem.

There's 2 actually, the outside and inside ambient air sensors. These along with the solar sensor dictates the cooling level. MY15
