Does it recognise other usb devices like memory sticks or anything like that?

Dash cam could be a tricky one depending on brand and age. What functionality were you expecting when plugging it into your laptop? Do you access it like a drive, or do you use a bit of software for viewing? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Have to say Windows 10 on my laptop, which isn't in any way new, is excellent. Seems some are very unlucky while others get away with it. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I upgraded to Win 10 without problem last year. This January, the laptop started playing up after an auto update. Would not boot, if it did it froze, etc. Checked the Lenovo web site to find my model "had not been tested" for win 10. Rolling Eyes .

After a lot of hassle, i reverted to Win 7. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Windows 10 has worked out well for me. It's like a massively refined version of Windows XP / 7 (their two previous best systems)

Windows 10 works fine BUT be aware that if you buy a new computer transferring your files is no longer simple. On older OS versions there was a windows utility that just let you transfer everything. Now Microsoft are trying to make sure you put everything on their cloud, where you can access it from anywhere, but as a result they no longer have a file transfer utility. If you want to keep your stuff private, you have to put it all on a usb drive, then reinstall your software on the new computer, possibly buying new versions, then copy your files across. The biggest problem I had was shifting my collection of old e-mails - involved a fair bit of research on the net to find out how to do it. I also lost all my web page "favourites" None of this is a problem if you are happy to give Microsoft access to all your stuff. I'm not. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

In most instances, Past Master, if you are using a major email provider like Hotmail/Outlook or Gmail, you don't need to transfer them over as they are stored on their server, not your PC.

As for transferring over your files, I haven't done it on a Win10 setup but yes, in general you need to manually copy files over to get everything. The trick is simply knowing where to look. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

The problem here is twofold. Firstly, I don't like storing things in the cloud, where a startling amount of hacking seems to go on. I like to archive important e-mails and contact details on my own computer. Secondly, I used a pop e-mail client, which downloaded the e-mails and deleted them from the server. I've not been able to find a version of this to install on the new machine, so have moved to Outlook (the e-mail client, not the online thing), which synchronises with (some) of my e-mail providers. When I delete them in Outlook they disappear from the servers. Unfortunately this won't work with one of the servers, which can only be accessed using pop. Also, when I archive e-mails in Outlook they disappear from the server.
I realise that I'm still in the stone age, but I just don't like having my stuff out there on some remote server. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I can understand your concerns, but you are fighting a losing battle I'm afraid.

I have always been of the assumption that if a hacker reads my email, they will realise there isn't anything interesting in there. I'm sure they could do some damage if they wanted to with my data, but I'm a very small fish and the convenience is worth the relative risk. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Not just the hacking - the main thing I'm concerned about there is the frequency with which people's address books seem to get stolen. It's also the lack of security - a friend had a lot of good photos stored on one of the photo sites, and they just disappeared when it closed. OK, she was probably warned, but it meant that the links her friends had to the photos suddenly stopped working. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
