Parking sensors intermittent fault

I have read the threads on this issue, but they don't seem to answer my query. Sometimes the sensors work, and sometimes they don't. I have a 2008 Freelander 2 SE with both front and rear sensors. There is no rhyme or reason for them not working. For instance, I've just been out and the sensors worked until we came home. Very odd. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it? It adds a bit of adventure to the daily grind, but I could manage without it!

Yes, there is a switch on the dashboard. The sensors come on automatically when reversing, and they can be turned off using that switch (or you can turn them on if going forwards). Sometimes they work and the light on the switch stays on. Randomly they don't work and the light flashes. I'm thinking a loose connection perhaps. I've tried cleaning the sensors to see if that makes a difference, but it didn't.

As with many electrical faults it will take some finding. Best leave it to an auto electrician if you are unsure but you could pull out the fuse and replace and give what contacts you can see a spray with something like WD40 to clear any damp.

Maybe someone has had the same fault but thats as far as I go and 2013 cars like mine are different with no dash switch. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Sounds like a loose/poor connection it will be a case of trying each sensor and any other connectors you can find
OR
It could be dirt/water blocking the signal - do you jet wash the car? That can cause similar problems if water gets into the sensors
Whatever it is I don't think it will be a quick or obvious fix Shocked No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I finally got my car to a garage with diagnostic equipment, and they identified one particular sensor that is faulty. They want £330 for parts, labour and VAT to put it right. I don't think so!
