Hi all,

Last week while driving around town my car started billowing black smoke. I had suspected that I had damaged my MAF Sensor so to test this I unplugged MAF and presto the car stopped smoking.
Today I bought a new sensor and fitted this and the vehicle won't idle.

Using an on reader I found the old sensor had a reading of 9g/s and the new sensor has a reading of 35g/s.
What is the correct reading for this sensor?
My vehicle is a 2007 FL2 TD4 2.2lt diesel.

what the engine speed when you get those values?

Got to watch when buying MAF Sensors. Avoid cheap ones try stick to genuine OEM or a repratable brand at least.

I couldn't be further from "one of them" that say " genuine parts all the time" however MAF sensors this is the case.

If I research the part numbers on the original, I can determine Hella manufactured the unit.

However looking at the cheap version I bought, close to half the price of a genuine Land Rover part, it had no identification numbers.
This morning when I called them I was told there is no warranty on electrical parts and I need to pay for testing the unit. I could have bought the genuine LR part for the same price.
I am probably going to loose my money here as I can't prove the part is cr#p and they can't prove my ecu blew the sensor, but I loose because I dared to touch it!!!

As we say here in ZA "jammer van jou k&k te hoor", in other words I will have to swallow this load and move forward.

Well if the higher quality one fixes it and the lower didn't work I would say it's at least worth a strong worded argument if they refused to take it back. Pretty sure my local parts dealer would take it back even as a good will gesture.

If unplugging it resolved the problem usually that the problem. On other manufactures instead of calculating from reading on MAF and MAP it would just use MAP or vice versa.
