Do you have it set on 'North up'? What about 3D instead of 2D? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Have you tried looking out of the windows to see where you are going? I get really p ed off nearly every day when people arrive at my gate looking for a nearby Hotel (with a big sign) that they have just driven past to get to me.

Oh thanks for the helpful suggestion. No hadn't occurred to me to use the windows. Yes paper maps are a good substitute maybe we could suggest that Land Rover replace the LCD screen with a slot to hold books of maps in future models.

Clearly the answer to your problem is to buy the hotel! |

Thanks for the brilliant idea, I will ask the wife if she wants to open a restaurant with the same name as the hotel.

I too find that the direction of travel does not always follow the direction of the car. I also find the extra window that pops up when you get close to junctions irritating and confusing. It also doesnt always bring you back the same way. eg Home (Sutton Coldfield) to Skipton via the M6 but it always tries to take us back home via the M1 ! My old BMW's Sat Nav had a more useful screen layout and that was 5 years older than our FL2. I think its due to the Landrover Sat Nav software simply being not very good. Its quirky and sometimes wrong. Jules |

I don't know if this is relevant but I was thinking about this today and looked at the compass on my mobile phone and it said that in order to improve accuracy I was to shake the phone in a figure of 8 motion a couple of times. Presumably there is some accelerometer in there that uses the information to determine which way the phone is pointing as well as it's absolute position. However i the case of a car you would think that it would quickly work out which was is north from the motion of the vehicle and that it wouldn't need whatever the phone has inside it. Any ideas anyone? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

All of what you are saying/complaining about is configurable in the Nav settings, "learn route", "avoid motorways", "quickest route", "most economical", "screen options"etc......
