Is it me or does the new 2017 Discovery look like a bath tub on wheels - the back end looks really weird!

Cold for me. The rear roof just looks odd, reminds me of those truckman tops they put on pickups. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory |

Looks like the Disco reputation is going down the drain. Someone should pull the plug on this one. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

All looking the same and way out of the pocket of Joe Bloggs. The bubble will burst at some point for sure. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I'm enjoying my bath tub it's lost some of its character and charm but it isn't that bad.

This debate reminds me of the Ford Sierra that came out in the early 80's and everyone hated it and called it a jelly mould and really wanted to keep buying Cortinas. Ford had done it for aerodynamic reasons and the other car makers really wanted to do the same but didn't have the market clout to make it happen. Shortly afterwards everyone else started making cars that looked like the Sierra but with different lights and windows etc. It looks as if the same thing has now happened with the SUV market, if you can't see the badge they all look the same. eg Hyundai, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki etc and now LandRover. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Maybe its supposed to look like a Bathtub, so when the sunroof leaks as all disco's do and it fills with water, no one will notice |

is there any Freelander forums where the owners are just ordinary poor people ? i.e trying to keep an OLDER 5 grand car going, everyone seems to be trading in newer cars than mine for newer models, never ever and never will afford a car over £9000 in 40 years of driving . . . . I've always coveted a D4 but I wouldn't spend that kind of cash on a D5 as it's so bland , there's nothing unique about it , it doesn't turn heads , spending that amount of cash I would go for an XC90 or an Fpace. I know the D5 is king of off road but who is going to test it to its limits ? The 2 cars I mentioned are more than capable for 99.9% of D5 owners. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

Academic to me as I would never spend that sort of money on a motor MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I won't be buying one for the same reason many have said. I want my landrovers to look rugged and, in my head, rugged means boxy. That's why I bought my RR classic and then my FL2. Going to have to keep the latter going for a long time I think and it is not about the money. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Oh it turns heads, not that that's the reason you buy a LR, it was certainly at the bottom of my list, I looked at the XC90 and yes it's a good car but only available in 2.0 diesel and the dealer wasn't interested in giving me an extended test drive. The F-pace again to get the 3.0 V6 its £53k (before discounts). My D5 is SE, has LED headlights, full leathers etc it's a nice spec including options it came in at £53.5k, mainly because it I chose Namib Orange a premium metallic because LR insists on such a dull palette of colours. That's about as much as I would spend on one, some have spent £70-75k which for a Discovery is insane that's Range Rover money and most of the spec is nonsense gimmicks that are causing problems for owners.

unless you have a business use and can offset the purchase and running costs, I don't think the expense can be justified.
