Rear drone sound?

Car is in with local Land Rover dealer who think rear drone is linked to "stepped tyres" not Haldex. Stated reason for stepped tyres would be braking mid corner, as opposed to the desired slow in accelerate out mantra.

Is this correct, would this be the cause of stepped tyres or should they be looking for an underlying fault with suspension, alignment, etc?

Have the same, would agree with the reason you state and I would think the suspension, alignment is ok.

Only thought the stepped wear occurred on the front tyres but that explains the backs as well.

I have changed my driving to slow-in but the rears have worn before I realised.

Rear tyres have about 4mm tread left so they will be going soon and I would expect the droning noise to go as well.

Stepped rear tyre wear is quite common on the FL2 and especially if you have Goodyear Wranglers on - they become very 'droney' when down to 4mm. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Dealer contacted me, they have changed the tyres and the noise has supposedly been cured. I'm away this weekend so pick it up next week. Hopefully in agreeance that the noise has gone!
