Garmin in dash GPS - Australian SE model

Hi Guys

Quick question, I have a 2011 Freelander 2 3.2L SE model which came with a garmin GPS 1490T (as per the box)

I was told I had lifetime maps, however when I pulled it out and tried to update it on the weekend it is trying to charge me $99 for the purchase. I called Garmin and they are telling me i don't have lifetime maps, despite the fact I have updated it twice before.

Was I correct or somehow mistaken?

I have a 2012 SD4 SE with the Garmin Nav fitted I have updated mine at no cost numerous times as per their lifetime map guarantee

Perfect. Do you have anything that supports the fact we have lifetime maps?? I rung Garmin and land rover and both deny that I have it 2011 black FL2

I will have a look when i get home. I may have some paperwork from them in the glove-box. I take it yours came fitted prior to delivery by Land Rover Australia?

Yep, it was fitted already and the box for the gps was in the glovebox.

It's really puzzling because I have updated it several times before and I remember selecting the option "I have lifetime maps" on the Garmin website before the update and it automatically worked but now It doesn't.

Can you confirm the model of your Garmin too? 2011 black FL2

My Model is a Nuvi 2595 see attached sheet (click on gallery button) which came with it stateing that you have lifetime Maps

Hi guys, can anyone tell me how to update the maps on the Garmin Nuvi gps?

I bought a preowned Freelander 2 the unit is installed in the dash. Is their a cable I need or something?

As long as you have something which says you have lifetime maps and the company dismisses you. Go to Fair Trading. Keep a well documented paper trail in the meantime. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I pulled mine out and plugged in a usb cable to update my MY2011 Garmin. ebay update for a tidy sum. I'll share the vendor if you need it.
